CCDI to celebrate Students Week

Aiming to demonstrate the best of students, CCDI will be having its first Students Week Celebration on  March 4 – 9, 2013.

 

I.T. exhibits, seminars, competition, job fair and recognition of achievers are among the various activities that will surely empower students toward  better understanding of the institution’s vision, mission as it promotes core values such as excellence, leadership, integrity and service.

 

"We are reinventing new activities  that will help empower and strengthen our students. If it gives good impact, we will have  this as a regular event of CCDI Sorsogon." According to Mr. Edgar C. Balasta, CCDI Administrator.

 

 

Student week will commence on March 4 with skills competition in computer programming, networking,  web page design, software application and computer graphics. This contest is aimed at promoting competence and competitiveness in computer skills.  It has been noted that CCDI is the current champion bagging three out of four gold medals in Bicol Skills Competition held in Camarines Norte last year.

 

On March 6, Entrepreneurship Booth and I.T. Exhibit will be opened to the public to increase people’s appreciation in information technology, software development and animation.  Senior projects in higher computer studies will also be presented by the selected third year students. This is aimed at familiarizing the students in system development, capstone project and thesis writing. On this day, a mural painting activity to be participated by the  students in humanities and animation shall express a new image of this humble institution.

 

On March 7, seminar on various issues in gender awareness and development (GAD), disaster preparedness, risk management, reproductive health, juvenile problems and responsible election shall be conducted by the NSTP class under the leadership of Mr. July Ajero, Student Affairs Coordinator.

 

Meanwhile,  a Job Fair shall also be conducted by CCDI administration to the graduating students with Save More and Department of  Labor and Employment as the lead agencies. It’s purpose is to support the school’s  main thrusts - employability of graduates. It has been found out that in the current institutional Tracer Study, this institution obtained a 100% employment rating in degree programs. Admittedly,  in the tech-voc program CCDI has registered a not-so desirable employment result.

 

To inculcate appreciation in literature, art and critical thinking a poetry reading will be showcased by the students of the Literature Class under the directorship of Ms. Rhoda Buatis, a honed writer from the  University of the Philippines.

 

On March 8, a Thanksgiving Mass will grace the academic community. It will be followed by a Victory Parade to celebrate CCDI’s victory  in different competition in the Bicol Region. Among the main achievements are:  consistent winning in the Ten Outstanding Students of Bicol in 2011, 2012 and 2013. TOSB has produced Melvin John Frivaldo, Kathrine Lapayag, Jason Castillo and John Lester Lisano. It will also honor various achievements in : Champion in Essay Writing about the Living Legacy of Jesse M. Robredo (John Lester Lisano) ; Champion in Bicol Skills Olympics (Christian Barrameda, Jemelyn Quinones and Julie Ann Hayagan); Champion in National Statistics Quiz Bee (Joven Hayagan); Champion in National Taekwondo Mission Cup (CEdie Mendoza); Champion in Hotel Services(Christian Barrameda) and CCDI Wildcats, PRISAA and BICCS Grandslam Champion and Champion in  Philippine Collegiate Champions League South Luzon – Bicol.

 

Ms. Pauline Mateo a CCDI Digital Animation trainer from the Ateneo de Naga University will also share her expertise on 3D Animation using Flash animation and After Effects software to selected 30 high school students.

 

On March 9, a one-time scholarship examination will be conducted to screen applicants for Felix R. Alfelor Sr. Scholarship grants in which qualified scholars have the opportunity of studying   BS Computer Science and Animation free of tuition fees.

 

The culminating event of the Student Week  is the Recognition, Tribute and Fashion Show on March 9 at Villa Isabel Hotel. Students  and faculty achievers will be recognized in this gala event which will be attended also by other supporters of CCDI.   Ten Outstanding Students of CCDI, Academic/Dean’s Lister, leadership, service and athletic awards will also be given due recognition in this annual event.

 

CCDI Students Week is expected to encourage students appreciation to information technology education thus increasing their commitment and dedication to various I.T. specialization towards the realization  of  national goals and development.
