PRISAA Provincial Meet opens

Private Schools Athletic Association successfully opens its Provincial Meet last November 26, 2012 in the Sorsogon Provincial Gymnasium, Sorsogon City. This is in preparation to the Regional Meet in Naga City on January and to the PRISAA National Games which will be held in Lingayen and in Dagupan City, Pangasinan on  February, next year.

Dr. Manuel Mendoza, CHED ROV Education Supervisor II graced the event with Sally Lee, Chairman of the Paskonswelo sa Kapitolyo.

“PRISAA: One Sorsogon, One Team,” is a theme  that has manifested in the unity of  nine higher education institutions (HEIs) in the province of Sorsogon, namely: The Lewis College  (TLC),Computer Communication Development Institute (CCDI), Speed Computer College  (SCC), Annunciation College of Bacon, Units Inc (ABCSUI),  St. Louise de Marillac College of Sorsogon (SLMCS),  Bicol Merchant Marine College, Inc. (BMMCI), Veritas Colllege of Irosin (VCI),  Solis Institute of Technology (SIT) and Sorsogon College of Criminology, Inc. (SCCI).



PRISAA is a competition of  16 events namely: Basketball, Volleyball, Football, Volleyball, Sepak Takraw, Badminton, Table Tennis, Tennis, Dance sports, Taekwondo, Karatedo, Boxing, Judo, Baseball, Softball, Swimming and Athletics.


The opening program started with a mass at the St. Louise de Marillac College of Sorsogon. Special with  Father Odine Areola, as the celebrant" Caring is more than winning in the game." Father Odine said.


The mass was followed shortly by the Parade along the city proper.


The Opening Ceremonies was graced by Dr. Manny Mendoza of CHED and Maam Sally Lee. As Madam Sally said, "Character is vital in growth and development."


The support of the local government of the Province of Sorsogon is enormous. Gov. Raul R. Lee provided trophies and medals for the athletes. He  also sponsored a luncheon of the PRISAA officials with the Himig Kapitolyo welcoming the PRISAA officials.

Mutya ng PRISAA title was awarded to The Lewis College  with her 1st runner-up,  CCDI and 2nd Runner up, Speed. CCDI’s Sarah Desuyo was awarded Ms. Globe 2012.


Meanwhile, CCDI Wildcats and TLC Blazing Fox, being the two strongest teams in basketball are expected to clash  tomorrow.


While in volleyball (women), the defending champion SLMCS is aiming to its second win as Veritas College try to snatch the championship.

Solis Institute of Technology and Bicol Merchant Marine College  volleys are expected to top the Volleyball men category.
