CCDI Wildcats, BICCS Season 6 Collegiate Champion

CCDI Wildcats basketball  bagged  the championship title in BICCS Season 6 from its closest rival, The Lewis College Blazing Fox  in the Final Championship Match last October 2, 2012 in  Sorsogon Provincial Gymnasium, Sorsogon City.


“It was the best collegiate match I ever saw in the gymnasium.” According to Kgd. Lowel Ladisla, a basketball fanatic.

 

Mark Sabordo, this year’s MVP led the scoring with 19 points. The Wildcats point guards  Mythical Fives awardees named  Jheric  Padrique, Charles Hilario stepped up after they were upset by the TLC in the elimination match and in Game 1 of the Best of Three Championship Matches.

During the game, the Wildcats and the Blazing Fox gave the audience a neck-to-neck game tying the scores in the 1st period, 19-19.  CCDI Wildcats lead the scoring in the second quarter with a quarter’s score of 16 – 26. Wildcats’ Charles Patrick Jarabejo also scored 8 points.

 

In the third period, TLC’s  main scorer, Mayer de Vera  converted  three consecutive three-points shots and changed the momentum of the game in the third quarter.

 

In the final quarter, both two teams delivered well in the game with their toe-to-toe scoring. Blazing Fox’s  point guard, Marticio converted most of his jump shots.  Wildcats  freshman Ramon Maraña did an excellent defense rebounding job and converted six points in the offense. Padrique’s  3-point shot in the last  14 seconds  has stopped TLC’s win-ability ending the game, 82-80.

 

Wildcats coach, Ron Ryan Jalmanzar was named Coach of the Year of BICCS Season 6 besting NBA Junior’s Coach of the Year, Aldin Ayo.


CCDI will now represent the province for the fourth time in the South Luzon Elimination of the Philippine Collegiate Champions League in Jesse M. Robredo Coliseum, Naga City on November 3 – 6, 2012.  The wildcats will compete with other four provincial champions such as Batangas University Brahmans, Naga Colleges Foundations Tigers and the Amando Cope College of Tabaco.

 

Winner in this elimination will vie for Sweet 16 in the Zonal tilt and shall compete against the runners-up of the UAAP and NCAA.
Meanwhile, TLC champed in Secondary and Elementary Level with its runner-up, Rizal Integrated High Schools and Sorsogon East Pilot School, respectively. TLC Wolverines (high school) will also represent the province in the National Junior Championship sometimes December.

 

“This season hosted by The Lewis College I think is one of the best hosting in our collegiate league.  It is because of the concerted effort of TLC community headed by Dr. Rose Anonat, OIC  of TLC and Romy LLona, BICCS President. Next year, we are hoping to include the women’s division to complete our programs for the youth,” according to Mr. Edgar C. Balasta, BICCS Chairman and the newly appointed Regional Commissioner for the Youth of the Samahang Basketball ng Pilipinas.
