14 out of 16 examinees passed in the assessment exam for Computer Hardware Servicing NC II conducted by the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority held last March 3, 2011.

“Passing a national competency assessment is one of our indicator of the academic standard of the institution and job readiness of our students,” Mr. Edgar Balasta, School Administrator said to us in our interview.

The examination is a requirement for the students in Bachelor of Science in Information Technology who will be continuing the 4th year level in compliance with the Ladderized Education Program (LEP). Under LEP program, a student can earn a full TVET qualification before finishing a degree program.

Two TESDA or TVET qualifications such us Computer Hardware Servicing NC II and Programming NC IV are embedded in BSIT program of CCDI Sorsogon.

“CCDI students are taking opportunities of passing the national certification in their job applications. Example, our students who applied OJT in Metro Manila via on-line were easily accommodated because of their TESDA licenses and are promised to be hired by their respective companies because of their employment preparedness,” Mr. Edward Reyes, Academic Affairs Coordinator informed us.

TESDA pursues the assessment and certification of the competencies of the students through Philippine TVET Qualification and Certification System (PTQCS). The assessment process seeks to determine whether the graduate or worker can perform to the standards expected in the workplace based on the defined competency standards. This ensures the productivity, quality and global competitiveness of the students.

2011 CHS NC II Passers were: Aninipot, Cynthia; Añunuevo, Narciso; Castillo, Jayson; Decena, Grachell D; Dongito, Aiza D; Fercia, Adrian B; Figueroa, John Wilfed A; Gualvez, Paquito B.; Gutay, Johann V.; Hilot, Mark; Janoras, Joan; Jubilo, John John; Latorre, Roque; and Orense, Christian Mode. Except Orense, these examinees are 3rd year students of Bachelor of Science in Information Technology.

The assessment has five components such as: Installation of computer systems, diagnosing and troubleshooting, configuration and maintenance of computer systems and networks, and lastly interview.

The examination was conducted by CHS NC II Assessor, Mr. Geric T. Legaspi assisted by Mr. Jason Olarte, TESDA representative.

100% passing rating was garnered by the branch for their graduating students taking in Computer Hardware Servicing NC II held last December, 2010. Major technician subjects were handled by Mr. Tristan Detera and Engr. Rodmar Cunanan, both CHS certified assessors, too.
